Our Response to the Attacks Against Fred Deutsch

It has been brought to our attention by membership that a PAC has been attacking legislative candidates with an intentionally misleading name.  It would appear that Ray Lautenschlager of Rapid City has been working with Representative Dylan Jordan to funnel a $10,000 donation from Virginia into a series of attack ads and texts targeting Fred Deutsch.  They did this by filing a Political Action Committee with the state on May 18^th with the name of South Dakota Life PAC, which bears a striking resemblance to our South Dakota Right to Life PAC, which is also registered with the state.  Judging from the nature of the attacks, we believe this PAC filing is intentionally misleading.  South Dakota Right to Life and it's PAC have not endorsed any candidates in this primary.  We are saddened by the fact that Representative Dylan Jordan is using out-of-state dollars to smear strong, pro-life candidates like Fred Deutsch.  Fred Deutsch is a rock-solid, pro-life candidate and has devoted much of his life to the cause to such an extent that our affiliate National Right to Life made the unusual move of endorsing his candidacy in a legislative primary.  Congratulations, Fred, on the endorsement, it was certainly hard fought and well deserved.
